AustraliaNOW: EDITION 13
Hall & Partners, Clemenger BBDO and Quantum Market Research have together created the 13th AustraliaNOW Report. Amidst a week of big announcements, including the country's unemployment numbers, many Australians may feel not a lot is changing. To a degree, a prominent 'wait and see' mindset exists - but it also masks (excuse the pun) a much more turbulent mood below the surface. Some key highlights include:
- In spite of the sense of being over the worst of the pandemic crisis, the expectation of when things will return to normal continues. Things feel transitional and this will be the new state of normal for now.
- Individual financial confidence has so far proved resilient, as government prepares to wind back welfare initiatives, as stimulus is withdrawn.
- Australians are re-evaluating their expectations of the lasting impact of COVID-19 on both their habits and priorities.
- There is a distinct lag between easing of restrictions and the majority of people feeling comfortable enough to re-engage with what’s open, and, when it comes to intrastate travel for example, the majority are still too hesitant to a visit until restrictions are lifted further.
